Terms of Service

By accessing our website, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms of service, all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws.

  1. Welcome

We are Blue Clean LLC, and we are glad you are here. These terms govern the cleaning services we provide to you and everything we use to deliver them: this website, our booking tools, our customer service team, our cleaners, and the third-party vendors we rely on. We call all of it the Services.

Booking a cleaning means you accept these terms. They are written to be read: where something is a commitment we make, it says so plainly; where something is asked of you, it says that too.

  2. Authority

By using the Services you confirm that you will comply with these terms and with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws, and that you understand our brand, our site, and the material on it are protected by trademark and copyright.

If you are booking on behalf of a business or another entity, you confirm you are authorised to agree to these terms on its behalf.

  3. Where we clean

We serve Bensenville, Chicago, Des Plaines, Elmhurst, Elmwood Park, Evanston, Franklin Park, Harwood Heights, Lincolnwood, Melrose Park, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect, Niles, Park Ridge, River Grove, Schiller Park, Skokie.

Coverage is checked by ZIP code before you book. If your address falls outside the area we cannot take the booking, and any booking made for an address outside it will be canceled and refunded in full.

  4. Services and checklists

Every service is defined by the checklist it is cleaned to. The checklist describes what the team does in each room, and it is the standard a visit is measured against, including under the Happiness Guarantee below.

Work that is not on the checklist for the service you booked is not included unless we have agreed to it in advance.

    • Basic Cleaning follows the 22-point checklist
    • Standard Cleaning follows the 33-point checklist
    • Standard Plus follows the 46-point checklist
    • Deep Cleaning follows the 55-point checklist
  5. Quotes and pricing

You agree to pay the quoted price for the Services unless we agree otherwise in writing. Your price is calculated from the size of your home and the service you choose, and it is shown in full before you confirm. The figure quoted online is the figure you pay.

We make every effort to price accurately from what you tell us, but we may need to revise a quote on inspection where the property is not as expected: the condition or size differs from standard room specifications, your requirements have changed, or they were entered incorrectly.

Where that happens we tell you before the team starts, and either agree the revised price with you or move the booking to the service that fits. We do not revise a price after the work is done.

  6. Discount codes

Every cleaning is booked on its own — there is no plan to join, nothing to subscribe to and no minimum number of visits. From time to time we issue discount codes for a promotion or a season; enter one in the price breakdown when you book and the total updates before you confirm.

Each code carries its own rate, its own closing date and its own conditions. A code can be withdrawn or run out, and one that has expired or reached its limit will not apply.

  7. Using a discount code

A code may be used once per customer, and only one code applies to a booking unless the code itself says otherwise. Codes are worked out against the service subtotal; parking is charged at cost and is never discounted.

Some codes are offered to new customers only. Those can be used on a first booking with us and are checked against our records when the booking is made — if we already have an account for your email address, the code will not apply.

The price shown before you confirm is the price you pay. If a code stops being valid between the moment you enter it and the moment you book, we tell you rather than quietly charging a different amount.

  8. Booking and arrival

You can reserve a cleaning without entering payment details. A booking is confirmed when the confirmation email reaches you, not when the form is submitted.

Cleanings begin within one hour of the time you select. Traffic, weather, and the job before yours can move a start time within that window; if we expect to miss it, we will contact you.

  9. Payment

Payment is taken after the cleaning is finished, never before. The crew takes it on the day by card, processed by Square; card details are handled by Square and are not stored on our servers.

A receipt is emailed to you automatically when the payment goes through. Each cleaning is charged on its own, at the rate quoted when you booked it — we hold no card on file between visits.

If a payment fails we will email you to arrange another method. Repeated non-payment may mean we decline future bookings.

  10. Rescheduling and cancellation

Changed your mind? It happens. Reschedule or cancel from the appointments page in your account. The change takes effect immediately, with no phone call to make.

Schedules move quickly, but a booking dropped at short notice costs the cleaners assigned to it paid work. So we ask for at least 24 hours of notice.

Where a card is on file, a cancellation inside that window may be charged at $50. Where no card is on file, repeated short-notice cancellations may mean we decline future bookings.

  11. When we may cancel a visit

We reserve the right to cancel a booking, on the same basis as a late cancellation above, if:

    • the team would face a health or safety concern
    • no one is there to let the team in and no other access has been arranged
    • the property has unreasonable access to parking, water, or electricity
    • the property is not ready for the service booked, for example a home that is excessively messy
    • we were not given 24 hours of notice of a cancellation or reschedule
  12. Access to your home

Leave entry instructions with your booking: a door code, a lockbox, a doorman. Access details go to the crew assigned to your cleaning and to no one else, and they are removed when you stop booking with us.

You do not have to be home. If you are, we ask that the team be left room to work.

Tell us about alarms and how to disarm them. Where instructions were not given or were wrong, false alarm charges are not ours to cover.

  13. Before we arrive

Better safe than sorry: if you know of any hazard that could affect the health of our cleaners, such as slippery surfaces, loose fittings, or anything unsafe, tell us before we begin.

Need us to clean behind or under something heavy? Not a problem, but the item has to be moved before we start. Our teams do not shift heavy furniture or appliances.

A few other things make the difference between a good clean and a rushed one:

    • Pick up clutter so surfaces can actually be reached
    • Put away cash, jewellery, and anything fragile or irreplaceable
    • Make sure water and power are on
    • Mention pets in your booking notes so the team knows what to expect
    • Flag anything that needs particular care or a particular product
  14. Parking

Parking is the customer’s responsibility, and the team needs it for the whole of your clean.

Travel anywhere in our service area is included. But where no free parking is available, on the street or in your building, you cover the cost of paid parking. We send you the receipt after the clean and charge the amount on it, nothing more.

  15. Supplies and equipment

The team brings its own supplies and equipment; you do not need to provide anything.

Offering your own? That is kind of you. For the safety of our team we ask that anything you supply is non-caustic, non-toxic, and has not been tampered with. Leave it out with a note on what goes where.

We will use what you leave as directed, and how that product behaves on your surfaces is not something we can take responsibility for.

  16. What we do not clean

For the safety of the team, some work sits outside every service we offer:

    • Biohazards, including blood, bodily fluids, and animal waste
    • Pest infestations
    • Mold remediation
    • Exterior windows above ground level
    • Anything needing heavy lifting, or a ladder taller than a step stool
  17. Happiness Guarantee

Our Happiness Guarantee runs for 24 hours after a visit. Tell us in that window and we will come back and re-clean the problem areas, free of charge.

To put something right we need to know exactly what to look at, so we ask you to identify the specific areas and send photographs of them.

The Guarantee covers the cleaning we quoted for and the checklist for the service you booked. It is a re-clean of what was missed rather than a refund.

  18. Problems no amount of cleaning will fix

Occasionally a problem area cannot be resolved by any amount of cleaning. We tell you when we find one, either at the initial inspection of your home or immediately after an attempt has been made, and the Guarantee does not extend to it. These include:

    • Permanent carpet stains
    • Permanent hard water stains
    • Permanent marks on walls
    • Mold
    • Rust
    • Grease stains that have set
  19. What the Guarantee does not cover

The Happiness Guarantee does not apply to:

    • Visits completed more than 24 hours ago
    • Work that is not on the checklist for the service booked
    • Re-cleans themselves
    • Homes not in standard condition, such as biohazards or hoarding
    • Post-construction and post-renovation cleaning
  20. Damage and breakage

Accidents are rare, and we would far rather hear about one than not. Report damage within 24 hours of the visit, before the room is put back in order, so we can see what happened. We will repair it, replace it, or put it to our insurer, whichever fits.

Some things we cannot be responsible for: items already damaged, loose, or poorly fixed before we arrived; surfaces that were failing or worn through; and irreplaceable items left out rather than put away.

  21. Indemnity

You cover Blue Clean LLC against losses and liabilities arising from a breach of these terms on your part (including the warranties you give in them), together with the legal costs and expenses connected to any resulting demand, action, arbitration, mediation, settlement, appeal, or recovery of a debt.

This does not extend to losses caused by our own negligence or by our failure to perform the Services as described here.

  22. Limits of our liability

Our responsibility runs to the cleaning services we provide. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our liability for any single visit is limited to the amount you paid for that visit.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

  23. Changes to these terms

We may change, modify, add to, or remove parts of these terms at any time, and it is your responsibility to check this page periodically. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept it.

The version published here on the day you book governs that booking, and the date at the top of this page tells you when the current version took effect.

  24. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute arising from them belongs to the courts of Cook County, Illinois.

  25. Getting in touch

Questions about these terms, about a booking, or about a cleaning already done: get in touch and a person will answer.
